I found the following on the web

The Pharisees justified not being givers because of their love of money
Mammon mentioned 4 times
It's a word that means "riches or wealth", refers to a Syrian deity, originating in Babylon.
Mammon is a spirit that rests on money, finances.
All finances have either the spirit of Mammon or the Holy Spirit involved.
Mammon is the spirit of greed and selfishness, and is looking for servants.
Mammon promises you everything but gives you nothing.
Mammon tries to get us to put our trust and security in money.
Is money evil? No, it's the love of money (greed) that is the root of all evil.
Luke 16.19 says take these finances that have been dedicated to greed and selfishness and now use it to invest in eternal purposes in people's lives.
Those whose lives were changed by our giving will "welcome" us in heaven.
Matt. 6.19-21 Put your treasures in Heaven and your heart will be there too.
God knows how to turn money into souls.
What do I do with my money?
Be a good steward of what you have. Luke 16.10
God is finding out how much He can trust me. Luke 16.12
We need to live on 60 or 70 percent of our income, getting out of debt, being responsible.
We don't have to drive certain cars and live in certain neighborhood.
When we obey God, God blesses us.
When you're born you're born a taker, when you're born again, you're made to be a giver.
Ask the Lord what He wants you to do in response.

Breaking the Spirit of Mammon
By Robert Morris
The Spirit of Mammon is what stops us from giving.
(Luke 16:9-15) 9 "And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by means of the wealth of unrighteousness, so that when it fails, they will receive you into the eternal dwellings. 10 "He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much. 11 "Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you? 12 "And if you have not been faithful in the use of that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own? 13 "No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other You cannot serve God and wealth." 14 Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, were listening to all these things and were scoffing at Him. 15 And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God.
Mammon appears four times in Scripture.
An Aramaic word meaning: riches or wealth.
the Syrian god of riches
Babylonian origins: sown in confusion.
Mammon is the spirit that rests on money. It is not another word for money.
Money that is submitted to God is blessed by God.
Jesus said you cannot serve God and Mammon.
Mammon is in direct contrast to the Spirit of God.
Mammon is looking for servants.
Promises you what only God can give you.
Mammon is selfish; God is generous.
Selfishness cannot be the Spirit of God
God is our security not money.
Mammon tries to buy itself out of problem
Mammon is actually a spiritual bondage.
The spirit of the anti-christ lies in the ability to buy and sell.
Mammon tells you that money will make things better.
Jesus never said that.
What things does mammon try to tell you money will fix?
1. Marriage, 2. help people/greed, 3. children.
Money doesn’t fix things. Obedience to God will fix your problems.
If we think more money would fix our problems, we have been influenced by the spirit of mammon.
Jesus wants us to hate the power that money can have.
Pharisees did not like this because they liked the power of money.
Is money evil?
Money that is not dedicated to God is unrighteous.
Take that money and use it for what is good.
Money is not evil. The love of money is the root of all evil.
Use your money to invest in souls, you will be greeted by those in heaven.
Your heart can be in heaven because your treasure is there.
19" Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
The reason that money is such a battle is because Satan knows that God can turn money into souls. God takes money and turns it into people.
This happens by giving food/clothing to poor, sowing into missions, the church, etc. If you don’t have money, you cannot fulfill these things.
Hell is being plundered by our offerings.
What should I do with my money?
We are to be good stewards of what we have.
If you have the attitude that you have to little, you will never have much to give.
He is finding out how good of a steward we are with the little.
We are to be faithful with whatever we have. If we are not faithful with what we have, we cannot be given more.
He is looking for stewards. We are good stewards through budgeting, savings, and living below means. Stewards know it is His money that we are managing.
-It is not how much it is; it is whose is it?
How do I activate this word?
We are born as takers. When we are born again, we become givers. “I was born a taker, but I was born again a giver.” Even little children show us this, “Mine.”
-We have to renew our minds.
-Learn to give.
God guarantees financial results through giving. It is His Word.
Ask the Holy Spirit what He is saying to you. Then whatever the Lord tells you to do, do it! We need to sow. We need to give. Let God do a miracle in your heart.
God doesn’t want your money. He wants your heart!
