Christmas Day service at Good Ground Family Church
Merry Christmas [and Happy Anniversary Pastor Wendell and Dona]
We should ALL give God the gift of our will!!!
We go to church on Sunday because:
- Christ’s risen from the dead was celebrated on a Sunday
- Sunday is the 1st day of the week
- Sunday is a tithe of our time!
Remember that if there were not a birth [of Jesus] then there would be no day [Christmas].
God wants men to know Him. If He can get us [men] to know Him then the ladies will come along for the ride! [see David Murrow website Church for Men]
1 Timothy 6:11-12
- God will honor you if you honor Him
Paul writes to Timothy on how to conduct his life…
We exist for Him [God]!!! We might be called to minister for others BUT we exist for Him; He is here for us!
- We were born for such a time as this
- We were ‘born again’ for Him
- He needs [me] to do something for somebody else.
1 Timothy 6:14-16
Verse 16 is a description of our God…
Luke 2:11
Our Savior was born that day [while yet a baby]… He was the King of King and the Lord of Lords.
Matthew 2:1-2
What was born? A baby…
Who was born? A Savior…
Matthew 2:3-10
Matthew 2:11
Fell down and worshiped Him. He [Jesus] was not poor!!!
1 Samuel 16:10-13 This is the story of David
- Destined to be a Savior
- 28 generations before Jesus; ~40 years in a generation
Verse 10: “the Lord has not chosen these”
Verse 12: “Arise and anoint him, for this is the one!”
Verse 13: “the Spirit of the Lord came upon David”
He was anointed and appointed!!!
Jesus → born an infant → anointed as King → BUT yet a child
The three gifts…
- Gold → Royalty in the earth
- Frankincense → Priestly role
- Myrrh → Born to die… on the cross brought to his lips; wrapped his body with spices [myrrh]
He was appointed to die!!!
Jesus [at 12] left in the temple “Don’t you know that I need to be about my Father’s business?”
Jesus [at 30] baptized by John the Baptist… He grew in favor with God and man
Questions???
Am I obedient to authorities over my life?
Am I obedient to God?
Your life matters; you are not here for yourself.
- I [God] knew you…
- I [God] ordained you…
The birth [of Jesus] was:
- Intentional
- Planned
- Destined to bring God glory
Nevertheless not my will BUT Yours be done!
Without God our lives are shipwrecked as we won’t hear God and we want things our way!
If we submit [to God], Honor [God], and Humble ourselves [to God] then I [God] will lift you up!
