It was in August of 1998 that Pastor and Dona formed
Good Ground Ministries International, Inc. Later that year, in December
of 1998, they pioneered Good Ground Family Church in a small back room
in the Troy, NY YMCA.
In January 1999 they then moved to a larger space of about 1200 square
feet in a storefront on Hoosick Street in Troy. There, they began to grow
and prosper to the point of requiring two services each Sunday to bless
those who came.
Though difficult, (their storefront had no central air conditioning or
heating system and virtually no parking), they persevered and the people
came. All the while they continued to pray and look for a permanent home
for the infant church.
In
The Spring of 2001 their Realtor told them of a former Catholic Church
in Cohoes, the Saint Agnes Cathedral, that was available.
Though
awed by its size, some 100,000 square feet, Pastor and Dona, their Trustees
and the majority of their congregation felt that it was the Lord’s
doing and committed to buy the building.

Pastor
Wendell Williams and his wife Dona have been married for
over 30 years. Pastor and Dona reside in Clifton Park with their
three adult children: Benjamin, Christine and Isaac. Pastor was born
in Las Vegas, Nevada, and lived in the West until his call in the ministry.
Throughout
his life, Pastor had felt the Spirit speaking to him about his higher
calling. Like many of us, he initially went his own
direction, but through the salvation and blessing from Jesus Christ, Wendell
became saved and born again. |

He and
Dona moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Pastor attended the Rhema Bible School.
After his two years of training, he and Dona started Good Ground
Ministries International in July 1998. In December of 1998, they
started Good Ground Family Church at the Troy YMCA.
They then moved to a storefront on Hoosick Street in Troy in January 1999.
They began to grow to the point of requiring two services each Sunday
to bless those who came. Though difficult, they persevered and prayed
about a permanent home for Good Ground. They were notified that
a former Catholic Church in Cohoes, Saint Agnes Cathedral, was available.
Pastor and Dona moved the Good Ground Church to Cohoes in December
of 2001.
Though the path has been difficult, and there have been time where they
might have given up,
Pastor believes that through Christ, all is possible, and we can all be
used by God to be a blessing.
