Worship Service Description

The Worship Service

At Good Ground Family Church our entire gathering on Sunday morning is called "Worship" and has different components - worship in music, worship in giving, worship through ministry of the Word, worship in fellowship. We know God is a God of order and it is our desire to do all things decently and in order along with a spirit of excellence. We also know that we can't put God in a box so are always open to being led by His Spirit and for His glory.

Worship in music - We use a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary praise and worship choruses to sing praises to God.  Our worship team is talented and gifted in using the keyboard, the electric guitar, the electric bass, the congas and traditional drums.  Our singers are gifted and talented, as well, embodying the Spirit of Judah.  All lyrics for the songs are displayed on the screen in the front of the Worship Center.  We believe in expressive forms of worship - the raising of hands, dancing and waving of flags, all done decently and in order.

Family Reading - It is our firm belief that we are to lead with the Word of God.  A unified reading, usually from the Psalms, is done from the New King James Version of the Bible, which is made available throughout the Worship Center.  The rules are simple - we read the same version of scripture, together, out loud - loud enough for your own ears to hear, "for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God."

Ministry of the Word - This is the message from the Word of God, brought forth and taught by Pastor Wendell Williams, his wife Dona or a guest speaker.

Worship in giving - We receive tithes and offerings as prescribed in the Bible.  There are offering envelopes located in the chair pockets in front of each chair or from the ushers.

Benediction - This is the closing blessing bestowed by Pastor Wendell prior to dismissal.

Fellowship - There is coffee, hot tea and juice available, along with a selection of pastries after the end of service.

Because we are filled with the Holy Spirit at the time we are saved, you may see or hear evidence of this by hearing different languages spoken during times of corporate prayer.  The Bible states in Mark 16:17, "And these signs will accompany those who believe - in my Name...they will speak in new tongues."

If you ever have any questions about what you might see or hear during a service, you are encouraged to ask an usher or to call the church office at 518-233-0398.
